Rosa told us that her two favorite places in the city are Prospect Park and Rockaway Beach. Both are places always teeming with energy, where the people watching is unparalleled, and where everyone seems to drop their “serious New Yorker face” and relax into a collective good mood. In a City where personal outdoor space is limited, Rosa explained that the beauty of these community-centric spots is that they’re “everyone’s back yard.”

In “Concrete Jungle,” Rosa distills everything she loves about these places into a bandana unlike any we’ve featured before. The design leaps off the fabric with feline power and personal expression, true to Rosa’s signature tattoo work. It simultaneously exudes the busy, tough, walking-with-confidence attitude of the City, while playfully weaving in the fun, funky, laid-back energy of the outdoor spaces she loves.

Brooklyn-based tattoo artist Rosa Bluestone Perr aka “Bluestone Babe” is lifelong New Yorker with a family history in the City dating back to Ellis Island. Raised in her father’s art studio in Greenwich Village, Rosa explained that at an early age “We weren’t allowed to watch much tv, so my parents gave us art supplies.” As she grew, her work drew on inspiration from both of her parents, along with the menagerie of artists, activists, and teachers that populated her family’s universe. After college, Rosa found herself wanting a small, simple tattoo with a low profile and delicate lines. When she couldn’t find anyone tattooing in that style, she took matters into her own hands. Once friends saw the style of ink she gave herself, one tattoo request turned into ten, which turned into to a tattoo license and an organically growing business. Her Bluestone Babe studio now allows her to leave her indelible mark on the City, one sensual and divinely feminine design at a time.

Food Bank 4 NYC

Food Bank For New York City is a Feeding America member organization driven by a mission to end hunger. As the City’s largest nonprofit hunger-relief organization, the Food Bank has been working to end food poverty in the five boroughs for over 36 years with an approach centered on helping low-income New Yorkers overcome their circumstances and achieve greater independence.

Rosa’s decision to support the Food Bank with her design boiled down to basic human need. As the economic impact of COVID-19 has taken its toll on the City, more families than ever are facing the harsh reality of food insecurity. Even pre-pandemic, Rosa explained “it’s easy to focus on the glitz and glamour of the city, but the reality is that when you really look around there are so many people struggling just to find food.”
