The inspiration for "Cactus Dream" came from a song of the same name by the band Sugar Candy Mountain. A favorite of the brothers Solorzano, the song's vintage-pop styling and ethereal vibe is a perfect pairing for this design and their work in general. Like the song, the design feels transported from subconscious wanderings through early 1960's Americana. Upon first glance, it's a desert scene like any other, but a longer examination reveals a psychedelic undertone - drawing you deeper into the mystery.

Further enforcing the dream motif, the design's kaleidoscoping patterns provide a sense of disorientation and spiraling movement. You're not sure which direction to look, through you can't help but come back to the imposing rattlesnake right before your eyes. The cacti provide a symbol of strength and resilience in the face of dangerous obstacles or harsh environments. It's a design that'll remind you to face your fears, to rely on your strength, and of course - to enjoy psychedelics responsibly.

Brothers Design Co.
brothersdesignco.com

Brothers Design Co. is a boutique design studio founded by brothers Sam & Juan Solorzano, based in Nashville, TN. Their prolific graphic design and illustration work is deeply inspired by the past. Their timeless pieces have drawn on vintage inspirations ranging from nose-art on WWII planes and comic book covers from the 1960's, to 1940's tattoo flash art and tarot cards. They also site John Alcorn, Jo Mora, and tattoo artist Percy Waters as artistic influences. These influences imbue the brothers' work with a unique, timeless quality that feels familiar, yet utterly original. Much of their work focuses on natural elements - human figures, plants, and animals - and Juan's background as a touring musician has unsurprisingly allowed the brothers to carve out a niche in the music world. They've created beautiful album cover art, gig posters, and merchandise for Maggie Rogers, Wilco, Chris Stapleton, Caamp, Graham Parsons and others. Their work has also been featured by Madewell, Coors, Spotify, and High Water Music Festival in Charleston, SC. Despite their success, Sam and Juan told us that they still find beauty in the subtle imperfections that come from starting a design with pencil paper.

Concrete Jungle Foundation

Concrete Jungle Foundation (CJF) is an international non-profit organization that builds skateparks and runs youth development programming in communities around the world to promote health and well-being, access to education, community development, gender equality and economic growth. CJF empowers individuals and communities worldwide through fostering and sustaining the positive values inherent to skateboarding. As a skater, Sam felt a particular connection with this cause as he believes skateboarding provides a healthy outlet for individuals and communities of all ages. In his words, "Skateboarding teaches perseverance and how to use failure and pain as a path to progress and meeting your goals." We're honored to help Sam and Juan support this incredible organization through sales of "Cactus Dream."
