Alana Louise is an independent commercial artist based in Austin, Texas. With a specialization in illustration and branding, her work is heavily inspired by her love of the outdoors, specifically her love of fly fishing. A member of Trout Unlimited, she is very involved in her local fly fishing community and told Dribble in a 2019 interview, "I can’t ignore the fact that I am on some sort of body of water, fishing, at least once a week, and something that I truly love is how all streams flow towards a larger body of water. There’s something symbolic and relatable about that." With over 10 years of experience, Alana's beautiful, natural-inspired designs and typography have graced a wide range of brands including Lee Jeans, Pabst Blue Ribbon, YETI, Google, Patagonia, and many others. Her detailed, colorful work lends itself to brands (like ours) that encourage enjoyment and conservation of natural landscapes - and we're honored to have finally gotten a chance to work with her on this beautiful bandana!
RAICES Texas (or the Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit agency that promotes justice by providing free and low-cost legal services to underserved immigrant children, families, and refugees. Their tireless legal work with low-income immigrants ranges from low-cost residency and citizenship services to pro-bono representation for families and children in detention.
With legal services, social programs, bond assistance, and an advocacy team focused on changing the narrative around immigration in this country, RAICES is operating on the national frontlines of the fight for immigration rights. With more immigration lawyers than any organization in Texas, in 2018 RAICES managed 37,863 cases at no cost to its clients. Without pro-bono legal services most of their clients, including children of all ages, would have to go to court alone, with zero representation. RAICES believes no child should have go to court alone.
Alana chose this charity because she believes (as we do) that children should never be kept in cages and because she supports the RAICES mission to "defend the rights of immigrants and refugees, empower individuals, families, and communities, and advocate for liberty and justice - for ALL.
